Hundred Days, Hundred Schools

  • Project Start Date: 01 Jan 2019
  • Project End Date: 05 Jan 2021

Physical computing with Micro:bit and Arduino has been included in the National Curriculum of Grade 8 and 9 from 2019 onwards. On the one hand, this is a huge win for us. Now parents, teachers and students will show more interest in these areas.

However, many students will not get the chance to learn these lessons due to lack of teachers with right knowledge and lack of resources like required micro-controllers in their schools. There are more than 6000 government schools in Sri Lanka. According to the informal research we have done, students in more than half of those schools will miss these lessons.

STEMUp Educational Foundation launched this project in 100 selected rural schools to bridge this knowledge gap. In a nutshell, our well-trained volunteers will cover relevant course contents through 1:M sessions in those schools and will distribute one IoT kit per school for further studies.
